A laptop is only one of mankind’s great inventions
Since prehistoric times man has tried to manipulate the things around him to make life easier. Flint arrow heads are commonly found which were used for defense and to slay animals for food. Ceramic bowls have been found which date back thousands of years indicating that mans intelligence then wasn’t that much different compared to now. As more tools are developed the better they become. Nowadays tools and machines are part of everyday life. It would be hard to imagine waking up in the morning without an alarm clock or eating a bowl of cereal without watching our favorite morning programs on an LED or LCD television. One of the recent turning points for mankind was when people realized how to control electricity. This enabled people to invent machines which could do jobs for them. This took the strain out of building and fixing things.
Nowadays DIY is big business and it seems that everyone is a DIY enthusiast and there are sheds up and down the country filled with electric drills and other power tools. Technology has now come such a long way that somebody can sit down with a laptop computer in Alaska and talk to someone in New Zealand in real time via the internet. This has led to unprecedented levels of communication and while these machines haven’t been around long in comparison to televisions, they have certainly impacted our lives in dramatic fashion. This is mainly due to an explosion in development in this sector. As people invent more programs and faster computers people can do more things which increases demand. These machines were once aimed at the business sector but software developers are now realizing that these machines have a bright future in people’s homes as well. Because they can be moved around easily people like to take them travelling making it possible to keep in touch with family and friends wherever someone is in the world.
Nowadays owning a laptop is about more than looking cool it’s becoming a necessity that people are beginning to take for granted. While the television was once the number one source of entertainment in the home the computer is quickly taking its place. This is due to its versatility and computers can be used to play games, surf the internet and even watch programs that were once exclusively viewed on televisions. Advancements in technology have allowed people to take care of their homes better. If someone wants to put up a picture or a shelf all they need is a drill and a spirit level. People love the feeling of independence and satisfaction DIY jobs can provide. It’s also cheaper than paying someone else to come and fix something in the home. If someone isn’t confident with a drill they might consider joining a short course to learn how to use their tools properly. There are many hidden dangers in a home and drilling into a wire could be the end of someone’s DIY enthusiasm and their life.
